The TV is No Longer Broken

I mentioned before that Johnny’s TV broke in the manner described in the thread here http://www.ecoustics.com/electronics/forum/home-video/590118.html:

  • The screen has power, but it is blank/black/blueish.
  • The “Vizio” lights up when the set is turned on.
  • The set will not respond to any commands…i.e. changing channels, volume. Nor will it power off.
  • There is no sound.

I did a search and found that a shop in Cincinnati, Ohio called Marc’s Electronics does this kind of repair work for a really reasonable rate. If you do a search in his eBay store for “repair Vizio” you’ll see details on what sort of service for what sort of symptoms. I pulled the main board, sent it in, and had it back in a week. Popped it back in and we were watching TV last night.

I’m way satisfied and recommend Marc’s to anyone with similar trouble.
