Chinese In Space - Soon
I am so enthused about the upcoming Chinese manned space launch, the next step in their space program. I'm not fond of aspects of their worldview, particularly human rights and militarism, but hoisting humanity more firmly and vigorously into space will change them; it will change all of us. We in the US can respond to the call, or be overshadowed, but either way our species is taking the foothold for what it is - not a mere accomplishment - but a foot hold. A step in the right direction. A firm place from which to move onward, upward.
Sometimes I say I look forward to a Star Trek universe. That, to some degree, is true, but I'm thirsty for the sight of a true Qeng Ho (Cheng Ho) civilization. The delay chafes me. Maybe now we can make some progress.
I just realized how humorous it would be if a spacefaring trading civilization came about because of the achievements of a Communist naiton. That's kind of poetic.
