From the journal notes at work from the past week …
Awwww, what a squishy entry by
twstdmonk. This sounds like the sort of thing
spc476 would have done, back in the day. Course, now he cooks real nice.
Covet. They’d never fit in my house, though.
So
spc476 pointed me toward The terrible secret of Livejournal, which is one of the few things of length that I’ve read, rather than skimmed, lately. It’s pretty interesting, and I find myself agreeing with much that is there. I share the author’s political views as well as the sad realization that the law is not in line with those views. The hair at the back of my neck kept ruffling, though, because the article addresses fandom.
I haven’t been worried about fannish stuff. I’ve been more worried about things like this link to possibly NSFW content that I posted a few days a week or so ago. It’s not a fandom thing. It’s just some funny thing that someone found on the Internet and I tripped across and found it funny enough to share. It’s got some lesbian makeout stuff in it. It’s got some tree dude spurting juice all over hot chicks. As you will notice, this post is friends-locked. Am I going to get suspended without notice now? That’s the kind of thing that bothers me.
I wasn’t worried about fannish stuff because I kept thinking, Well, I’m not in any fandoms. I don’t write fanfic. I don’t make fanart. I don’t gush forever about this or that aspect of literature or cinematography or similar, although I do happen to like some things and talk about them a bit. And therein lies the rub. Apparently I do participate in fandom. Just look at my LJicons. Look at my macros. Pwned.
In other news, via a chain of friends comes Anymails - “I have investigated how I can use natural metaphors to visualize my inbox, its structure and attributes. The metaphor of microbes is used. My objective is to offer the user another experience of his email world.” Waaaayy cool.
You should do this. I would support you all the way.
