Bleakest

I don’t know how I’m going to manage. I don’t know how I’m going to make it through this week.

We are swiftly running out of time to get the move done, and I have no idea how to accomplish it. Load after load after load, one vehicle at a time, moving by erosion.

And there are two items of furniture that I know [info]wlofie and I alone cannot handle. Both are too heavy for two people, and one is too large to go down the stairs – it has to go over the balcony. I’d break them into tiny, tiny pieces, but they aren’t mine, and I’m not at liberty. I truly don’t know what we can do.

[info]spc476 said he’d spring for a moving van to help wrap it up. That’ll be useful, if we can find a way to get the items down. That’ll be, I guess, Saturday. Maybe.

If I can help, lemme know. Unfortunately, this is HELL week at work (scheduled 11 hours, doing many more). But at least I could help with a furniture lift or something.. Too bad I don’t have the pickup truck anymore. Too bad for you that is, I’m glad it’s gone. heh.. Anyway, send me an IM or gimme a call. I tried calling SPC back, but all I got was some lady’s voicemail. Unfortunately, I lost all my phonebook entires with a recent phone merge. Amazing how one neglects to keep special track of the 10k of most useful data… heh

I just messaged him to call you, and he replied that he doesn’t have your number either. His phone lost everything last night.

    He’s at 954-803-7102 and I’m at 954-803-7014.

Thanks. It’s still looking like Saturday, if you can manage it. It would help loads.

Ahh.. I’d have figured you for 561′ers.. You may want to go ahead and screen that post if you want, I snagged the numbers. Saturday, I have to take my car in at 12:30pm and it’s supposed to take 2-3 hours. So, before or after, preferably before, unless someone wants to pick me up from the place while it gets worked on. *grin*

Talk to you soon. One more day of hell..

Depending on what the pieces are… instead of going OVER the balcony, use it. Pad it with a blanket and lie the pieces on top, then guide it down and a: you won’t have to lift the weight as much, b: it will be centered on the balcony and less likely to scuff walls on the way down, and c: you need less people to do it.
Another option is to remove the balcony. If it is bolted to the floor and wall, it will probably not be shot in so you can use a socket wrench to remove the balcony, take your pieces down and now you have more room to work, then just put the balcony back in… or leave it off if you don’t care about your security deposit.
When I was a mover, we did this a lot… people don’t think about apartments and townhouses when they design large pieces of furniture.
All architects and furniture designers should have to do a 1 year internship as a mover.
