Reminder

Just a reminder - there’s a hangout for my coworker burnout friends at . At this time we are posting friends-only and membership is closed, so you can just reply to this post or email me privately at spring@springdew.com so I can add you.

I do have to warn you that some of my friends don’t get along with others of my friends, so you might bump into someone you don’t like. However, you can get a look at the members list by looking at the user info, if you would like a heads-up.

Membership is also open to people who used to work here and don’t anymore, as they are more burnt out than anyone. :-)

New Community

I’m noticing a trend whereby a lot of my friends who happen to work for my company are screaming in agony over that fact. Therefore I have started a community for the purpose of supporting each other. Right now membership is closed, so I have to add people manually, and I would suggest that people post friends-only, at least for the time being.

Let me know if you are interested in joining up. You can either reply to this post or email me privately at spring@springdew.com.

Well …

Considering that they wanted to start the new team leaders today (from what I heard anyway), and considering that it IS Sunday and still no word, I think I can take it as a signal that I didn’t get one of the positions.

The good side is that my schedule is not about to get all fucked up.

Sigh. I guess I’m still enough of an achievement-oriented grade hound to feel like a failure. Again. The career advancement test was demoralizing enough.

It’s so frustrating to be held by standards of knowledge that are obsolete! It’s so irritating to be considered unworthy by people who don’t even know what POP server we run.

—They don’t even know what POP server we run!!!— They don’t even know that tools written for the last POP server we ran don’t work with the current one. Good God, that happened eight months ago.

It’s all such an incredible load of bullshit that I shouldn’t even care. The people whom I respect the most wouldn’t give a rat’s ass about this stuff because they know it’s bullshit.

I’m frustrated and demoralized because I want to do well. I am learning so much, it’s amazing. I’m digging so deep into resources most people on the floor never even heard of. I’m finding out so much that is “oh wow”. It would be nice to get some acknowledgement, but I won’t. Instead I’ll be rejected because I don’t bother learning to parrot two year old training documents back to people on demand.
