The Linux box is finally together, running, and installed with Red Hat 7.0. It even has the CD-ROM drive going, and an extra hard drive, seeing as how 1G just isn't enough. (Ahem, I thought part the attractiveness of Linux was its trim sihouette. Sheesh.) I formatted the 6 gigger that had come out of the Windows box for this purpose.
My subconscious mind is really insidious. I've been trying to figure out what to call the Linux box, but all that would come to mind was Eddie. It was irritating me to no end that no matter what cool name I thought up for that box, whenever I looked at it - bing! - my mind said "Eddie". Finally I gave in.
Now, it's been bothering me for a long, long time that my Windows box has been called Jabba. It's been named that ever since it did a brief tour on Dry & Thirsty's network whose components, in a moment of simultaneous schmaltzy weakness and ass-kissing, I had named entirely after lesser characters in the Star Wars movies. Finally today I decided I had had it, and I opened my eyes widely at the Windows box and bade a name come to me.
And it did. Herman. Herman. Hmmm okay, what the hell. Changed the settings in Windows and had Napalm alter the network DNS stuff to reflect the changes. Then it dawned on me.
Eddie and Herman. Herman and Eddie. Both of them Munsters. And Herman is the larger of the two. Oh dear.
