SLC Punk

Oh, man, I need a smoke.

So the other day we watched a movie called "SLC Punk". This is a suprisingly good flick that was cross promoted with "Go" and I had meant to see it for some time. It's something of a snapshot of some friends who are punk trailblazers in Salt Lake City in 1985. The scenes, debates, essays, and explanations get into hysterically funny territory, and I love the body language of most of the actors, especially the guy who plays Heroin Bob. These characters are believable and likeable, despite being wild and crazy people. One of Napalm's favorite scenes was the Big Talk, during which one character's parents are trying to convince him to get serious about his life and go to Harvard. He's jumping up and down in a ridiculously gleeful mock rage, shouting, "I - AM - THE - FU - TURE!!!" His father, once a sixties protester, guiltily says, "I didn't sell out, son. I bought in."

I recommend you rent it.
