Google Search

Every now and then you should do a search for yourself on a search engine and see what you turn up. It can be fun, sometimes disturbing, but you are likely to find some gems. Last time I did a search, it was so long ago, I was still using Lycos.

I forgot all about this article in the New World Times. In fact, I sometimes forget I ever wrote for the World Times, which is a travesty, because some good stuff went into it. And anyone wanting a writing gig should show some examples of their work, so this is a nice little find for me.

I found lots of echoes of an active social life through the online journalling community, various mailing lists, and Active Worlds. They're echoes - I don't find them important enough to link to.

I am, however, happy to see Captain Napalm's account of the automation of this journal in the search.

Of course not everything I found actually had to do with me. Here's a cleaning agent and a plant, for instance. I'm not real sure what to make of this war bot thing here.

It seems that my name is a favorite nomenclature used by countertop makers (four brands counted so far; I am halfway through the results) as well as carpet and crystal manufacturers. I am also several boats, two horses, a diamond pendant, a beer, a street in San Antonio (where, apparently, a lot of theft occurs), and a master suite at the Four Seasons Hotel near Raleigh. And, predictably, spring dew appears in the lowercase in lots of descriptive prose and romantic poetry.

A long time ago, there was a webpage run by an Asian woman advertising an anti-wrinkle cream called Spring Dew, but I don't see it anymore. I kinda miss being ageless.
