My Style

I think after all these years, I finally know what the hell my style is. I've been tuning for ages, you know. I am talking about clothing here - the rest, well, it comes out here.

I didn't have a good grip on it before I went into the Army, and of course being in the Army, you don't have to pick your clothing very often. And when you do, it's casual clothes, not professional wear. That's been the hardest part of my wardrobe to figure out - what to wear in the civilian workplace.

I like muted colors. I can finally admit it - I don't care for chartreuse or fuscia, but rather browns and tans and creams, greys, variations of navy, OD green, and black. More and more of my wardrobe is turning to the brown/tan end of the specturm, khakis and all.

I like wild patterns. That may seem contrary to the colors, but I think the two ideas work together. It's saying, "I have my own silly thing happening, but I'm not going to shout about it." I've got jungle prints and Aztec swirls and all kinds of crazy stuff going on.

I like the English professor look. That means tweedy jackets and vests, and again the browns and tans. I am amassing quite a nice set of secondhand vests. They are the best kind.

I like layers - shirt under shirt under vest under jacket. I like putting skirts under my dresses for the petticoat look.

I finally like dresses again, and skirts, provided they are long and flowy and do not restrict me. I do not want to wear stockings or pantyhose, so they better accommodate that. I like sweeping and swirling into places. I do not like tripping over my clothing, but sometimes it happens.

I like pants that are roomy and pleated. Keep your leggings and strecth pants - hate em.

I like turtlenecks, and don't have nearly enough. Santa?
